A message from the YMCA Barracuda Swim Team:
"Our team has suffered a great loss this summer. We lost one of our own as well as his mother to cancer. They were a vital part of our team and we desire to honor their spirit and their love of swimming. Therefore we are hosting this meet in their honor. All the proceeds from the meet will go to benefit the family, and the charities they loved. Please join us in honoring this family and in contributing to fight back against cancer!"

State T-Shirts & Sweatshirts Ordering information
ORDER TODAY 7-14-09 ONLY

The swimmers that have qualified for the state meet will be getting t-shirts with the team logo on the front and a list of all the 2009 state participants on the back. The shirts will be white with black and aqua lettering.

If siblings or parents would like a shirt, they are $15.00 each and will only be available to order tomorrow, July 14 at the end of the first practice and during the 2nd practice. We will only be taking orders the one day due to the need to get the order in ASAP so the shirts will arrive before state. I will only be able to take cash or checks tomorrow.

Yours,
Laurie Scheyer

ALSO:
Parents,
We have the opportunity to order gray hoodie sweatshirts for the kids. They will cost $28 and will have the logo in black and aqua and text in aqua. We would need a minimum order of 12 and we are hoping they will arrive before state but cannot guarantee this. If you are interested in ordering it must be done with check or cash tomorrow, July 14 after the first practice or during the second practice. This will be the only day available to order so the sweatshirts will arrive as soon as possible. If we do not get enough orders your money will be refunded Wednesday and Thursday.

Important Changes to Practice

Attention parents and swimmers.

Do to the excessive number of swimmers in the early session; the coaches will be making some necessary changes.

Swimmers need to swim in their own age groups. With that said, the coaching staff will be placing some swimmers in different sessions according to skill levels. This means some swimmers will be moved to the early session and some swimmers will be moved to the later session. We realize that this may not be a perfect fit for everyone, but the dynamics of the number of swimmers in different age groups, has required us to make this change.

Each session 7:00 – 8:30 & 8:30 – 9:30 will now be restructured and instructed according to skill level. Coach Kris and Coach Lisa will provide the details if a swimmer’s practice session needs to be altered.

Bottom line: Unless you hear differently from the coaches, all swimmers 11 years and older will practice from 7:00 – 8:30. All swimmers 10 years old and younger will practice from 8:30 – 9:30.

Swimmers must be at the pool and ready to swim when their session begins.
The City of Cumming will not allow us to have the needed 3rd session. Please encourage our City officials to move ahead with the indoor pool. This new pool should alleviate our practice problems.

Thank you for your understanding,

The Cumming Waves Board of Directors
